Eric Forest Zahn Tidal Influence

"As ongoing urbanization continues to impact our local wetlands, Eric Zahn and his team are standing guard to make sure that these priceless areas can be enjoyed for generations to come."

If you’ve ever taken a relaxing, scenic drive down PCH, you’re familiar with Eric Zahn’s work. The Long Beach Native is the Principal Restoration Ecologist and co-founder of Tidal Influence, an ecological consulting firm focused on restoring and managing our local wetlands.

Since 2008, Eric and the Tidal Influence team have developed community-based programs to restore over 250 acres of wetland habitat, plant over 30,000 plants and educate more than 25,000 local school children about the coastal processes that surround their communities. Concurrently, the team has raised approximately $20 million of competitive grant funding to the area to support these crucial efforts.

Eric has also played an instrumental role in the planning and implementation of restoration efforts at Long Beach’s Colorado Lagoon and has formed close relationships with the Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust and the Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy, helping to restore and rehabilitate even more wetlands in Southern California.

And while Eric’s work is already making a profound positive impact on the next generation, he is also actively engaging students to ensure these efforts continue in earnest, establishing over one hundred student internships with Long Beach City College and Cal State Long Beach.

As ongoing urbanization continues to impact our local wetlands, Eric Zahn and his team are standing guard to make sure that these priceless areas can be enjoyed for generations to come.

Farmers & Merchants Bank has been proudly doing business with Eric Zahn for 10 years.
