Lailanie Jones Precious Lamb Preschool

"Lailanie, through her leadership and vision, has helped to create an environment where children who would otherwise be forgotten can thrive."

According to the City of Long Beach, there are an estimated 4,000 people suffering from homelessness in the city, and 1/3 of those are women and children. Despite these daunting numbers, Lailanie is on the front lines of fighting homelessness using an unlikely weapon: preschool.

Now in her 12th year as Executive Director of Precious Lamb Preschool, Lailanie’s mission is to “break the cycle of homelessness, one child at a time.” Each weekday morning, children who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend preschool experience the love and grace poured out by Lailanie and her teachers, as well as the structure and stability that is crucial for their development. With many of the children either living on the streets or being shuttled between foster families, the confidence and learning they receive at Precious Lamb offers a rare chance for them to change the trajectory of their lives as they grow and develop.

In addition to guiding Precious Lamb’s educational mission, Lailanie has also helped the school move from being partially dependent on state funds to 100% funded by donors and private grants. Lailanie, through her leadership and vision, has helped to create an environment where children who would otherwise be forgotten can thrive.

Farmers & Merchants Bank has been proudly doing business with Lailanie Jones for 9 years.
